In astrology a house is found out by dividing the
Zodiac. The circle of zodiac is divided into twelve equal parts known as a
house in astrology. This division gives different houses and the location of planets in them
is decided on the basis of date of birth, place of birth and time of birth of a
person. Date and time of birth gives the respective position of the planets at
that point. The place of birth helps an astrologer to determine the longitude
and latitude of that place so that this point may be fixed in relationship with
the planets.
In Astrology, the houses are described as
a field of experience. The division of ecliptic (the path that the Sun, Moon
and the planets travel on) results the division of 12 houses. The ecliptic is
the wheel in a horoscope which is divided into twelve houses. The circle of
zodiac which is divided into 12 equal divisions has 30 degree in each division
totaling 360 degree. Thus each house extends 30 degrees.
For any date, time and place, there are some
stars rising in the eastern origin and some stars setting in the western
horizon. This is because of the earth's rotation around its axis. The eastern
horizon is called the first house, whereas the western horizon is the 7th
house. The point above the head of the person is called the mid heaven or the
10th house. In Indian system of house division the rising point, the
setting point and the mid heaven point are considered the center of the 1st
house, 7th house and 10th house respectively, whereas in the western system
these are considered the starting points of the houses.
