Astrology is the study of the influences, which stars and planets have in our lives. The term astrology is believed to have come in existence in late 14th century. It has been derived from the Latin word astrologia “the science of heavenly bodies”. The Indian or Hindu astrology is known as “jyotish”, derived from Sanskrit “Jyotisa” meaning “light or heavenly body”.

Astrology, in most parts of the world, consists of a system of horoscope. Horoscope is prepared by calculating the positions of sun, moon, various other stars and planetary objects at the time of birth of a person. Astrology makes use of horoscope to predict the future of a person depending on the change in the planetary positions during his lifetime. A person’s Horoscope can be considered as a life book, which has all the details from birth date, birth time, place of birth, the planetary positions at that time and so on.

Astrology can help us to gain an in depth insight of all the situations, problems or opportunities which are going to come in our lives. Astrology makes a connection between the stars, planets and the human beings.

Astrology is probably one of the first sciences to be practiced by the humans. In fact the historical records prove that astrology was practiced as early as 1950-1651 BCE (by the first dynasty of Mesopotamia). In old times astrology and astronomy were one science and astrologers were considered to be the best educated. Astrology was also taught in various universities till as late as 16th century. Astrology has become very popular in last few decades owing to the coverage given in newspaper horoscopes, televisions etc.
